Wallasey is a classic links, originally designed by Tom Morris Snr., but with many later alterations by such illustrious architects as
Harold Hilton, Fred Hawtree, and James Braid. Recent improvements have been made by
Donald Steel. The Stableford scoring system was devised by Wallasey clubmember
Dr. Frank Stableford; indeed, the first Stableford competition took place at Wallasey in 1932. Visitors to the club are able to see the famous painting of Bobby Jones (seen below) by artist and member J.A.A. Berrie. Jones sat for the painting during his "Grand Slam" year of 1930 while the Open Championship was being held at nearby Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
We also have exceptional
English Scenics, and visitors to Wallasey Golf Club have ready access to a tour of
The Beatles' Liverpool.
