Founded in 1903, Walton Heath opened for play in May 1904. Its first professional, James Braid of the Great Triumvirate, served in that capacity until his death in 1950. W. Herbert Fowler laid out the course, and astonishingly this masterpiece was his first architectural venture. Understandably, Fowler went on to become one of the leading golf course architects of his era. Fowler created one of the finest examples of heathland golf, it being noted for the splendid way in which the layout resembles the traditional seaside links. His Old Course has a championship length of 7,351 yards and is still ranked as one of the top-100 courses in the world. The New Course opened in 1907, and is comfortably ranked in the Top 100 courses in the British Isles. A superb test of golf, Walton Heath plays to a championship length of 7,165 yards.
We also have exceptional
