 ROYAL DUBLIN GOLF CLUB

Royal Dublin Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in Ireland. It's original home was on the oft-times muddy grounds of the Phoenix Park on the western edge of Dublin City. But with the building of the North Bull (a jetty) on the north side of the harbor sand built up behind it. Nature took over, crafting dunesland that was perfect for golf. Indeed, the area is a protected wildlife habitat with a fabulous range of flora and fauna—despite being only three miles from Dublin city center. As for the course, it was originally designed by the renowned architect, Harry Colt, but in 2006 it was reworked by the doyen of links development, Martin Hawtree.
