The Essex County Club in Manchester, Massachusetts (north of Boston on Cape Ann) is one of the old-time traditional golf clubs from yesteryear. And why is it such a gem? None other than eminent course architect Donald Ross lived on the course (his house is pictured below) from Donald Ross lived on the course from 1909 through 1913. As a result, its classic Ross features have made this layout a favorite with the USGA, which has brought championships to this course in Manchester-by-the-Sea.
