Luke Donald (1977) is an English professional golfer who plays mainly on the U.S.-based PGA Tour. In 1997, Donald accepted a golf scholarship at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he studied art theory and practice. Donald turned professional in 2001. In 2006, he reached the top-10 in the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in his career. In January 2007, he was briefly the highest ranked European golfer. In May 2011 Donald became number one in the World Rankings after winning the BMW PGA Championship.
