Born and raised in Dornoch, Scotland, Donald Ross went to the United States and became the premier designer of golf courses during the game's infancy in that country. Ross' most famous designs are Pinehurst No. 2, Seminole, Oak Hill and Oakland Hills. He was involved in designing or re-designing around 600 courses.
