Scott Verplank (born 1964) is an American professional golfer. While attending Oklahoma State University, he won the 1985 Western Open, becoming the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since 1956. Verplank also won the 1984 U.S. Amateur at the Oak Tree Golf Club and the 1986 NCAA individual title. After graduation in 1986, he turned professional and has compiled five wins on the PGA Tour as well as two Ryder Cup appearances (2002 and 2006).
