Lowell, Massachusetts New York-Penn League (Short-Season A) |
The Lowell Spinners are a minor league baseball team based in Massachusetts. The Spinners play in the New York-Penn League as an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The Lowell Spinners play their games in LeLacheur Park (5,030 seats), which is located in downtown Lowell. LeLacheur Park was designed by HOK Sports Facilities Group, which created such old-time feeling parks as Oriole Park at Camden Yards (Baltimore) and Coors Field (Denver). The team began play at the AA level in 1999 as an affiliate of the Anaheim Angels before switching to the Boston Spinners in 2001. The Spinners name refers to the city's heritage as a cotton and wool center in the early 1900s.
The Lowell Spinners have had such Red Sox prospects as Ryan Westmoreland and Alex Wilson. The Crowley Collection has images of the Boston Red Sox as well as two of its other minor league affiliates: the Pawtucket Red Sox of the International League (AAA) and the Portland Sea Dogs of the Eastern League (AA). The Crowley Collection also offers images of other professional baseball teams, including those in the American League (MLB), the National League (MLB), the International League (AAA), and the Eastern League (AA). Permission to use our copyrighted images of the Lowell Spinners and LeLacheur Park can be obtained from The Crowley Collection, which has extensive photographic libraries of general stock photography and golf images.
